UPDATE 9:45 PM THE SUSPECT WAS RELATED TO THE FIREFIGHTER WHO WAS IDENTIFIED AS ANTONIO ROGRIGUEZ . Isaac Zayas 27-year-old, from the 6800 block of North 7th Street, was charged with Murder and related offenses.
Members of the Philadelphia Fire Department are shocked to hear about the murder of one of their own. This happened about 3:51 Am on the 4700 block of Shelmire Ave. Police responded for a violent incident and when they arrived, a 27 year old male was found sitting on the porch, which is enclosed with fence. The fence was locked and police had to gain entry.
They found a 56 year old male who was unresponsive The fire department arrived and pronounced the male dead at 4:13AM. The male was a firefighter with the Philadelphia Fire Department.
Police have one suspect in custody, the male who was on the porch. They did not elaborate on who the male was or why he was in the house. Friends, family and co workers arrived to console each other about the death of their loved one. His name has been been released officially.
The suspect has not been charged at press time.
