On October 24, 2024 about 10:45 PM police were on routine patrol on Tomlinson Road near the city border with Somerton, when the officer saw a male, later identified as Oleksander Zabrodin from Parlin Street, in Philadelphia. police sasid he was walking in the middle of the street. When police approached, he raised his right hand over his head with the middle finger extended.
He made no effort to move out of the road and was stumbling, when stopped by police. He refused to identify himself and was detained. Police said that Zabrodin started to slump over and refused to stand still.
He had labored breathing and EMS was called. Once he was put in the back of the ambulance, the handcuffs were removed and he was restrained with soft satraps, provided by EMS.
Within a few minutes, Zabrodin allegedly got out of the restraints and started to punch one of the EMS workers. He also is alleged to have grabbed the medic’s hand and pull his fingers, trying to break therm. He was subsequently restrained again .
Oleksander Zabrodin was charged with assault, public drunkenness, and related offenses. The medic sustained an injury to his shoulder but did not require hospital treatment.
