Philly Resident Arrested, Two From Bucks County Held In NYC IED Incident

Two males, one from the Langhorne area, the other from Newtown, Bucks County Pa, are in custody, pending further investigation in New York City,. The two allegedly had a homemade device, they were observed tossing the device near Gracie Mansion, which is the home to newly elected Mayor Zohron Mamdani. No one was injured, . They are being treated as an Improvised Explosive Deviced, police said.

Emir Balat, 18, and Ibrahim Nikk, 19, along with four others were arrested after the two were observed throwing the devices , which were jars filled with nuts and bolts. There was also a fuse attached to them. It is unknown if the devices could have ignited. They are being examined by the NYPD Bomb Squad, officials said.

There were two different protests going on, one was a demonstration , organized by Florida US Senate candidate Jack Lang. He was protesting to “Stop the Islamic Takeover of New York”. New York officials said about 25 people attended that rally. Another demonstration, called “Run the Nazi’s out of town” had about 100 or so people, according to NYC officials.

According to a spokesperson for the NYPD, Ian Mcginnis of the 200 block of More Street in South Philadelphia was arrested after he allegedly pepper sprayed people at the protest. It is unknown if the three males knew each other or how they made the trip to NYC. McGinnis is charged with assault, Reckless endangerment and unlawful possession of a noxious substance.

Police said that Lang was not arrested and no injuries were reported. Arrest photos were not released by the NYPD. The protests happened yesterday about 12:30 PM, police said.
