On August 10,2026 at about 5:30 PM during the dinner rush two males walked into the Arby’s on Street Road. One ordered an item and paid for it with what police said was a fake $20.00 bill. When told the money was fake he fled the restaurant but was caught a short while later.
He is from Brooklyn NY and is identified as Jahmel Hayes. He is 25 years old. Police said another male tried to pass a different $20.00 and fled with the cash when told it was fake. Now police want to arrested him as well.
The idea behind this scheme is to take the funny money, buy something small, get back real currency in change and then leave the area. If you go far enough away, it is less likely that people can recognize you.
Police think they may have visited other businesses in the area, buying small items and getting back cash. They know they hit the Taco Bell but police are looking to see if any more stores in the area were visited by this duo. It is doubtful they came from Brooklyn to get rid of $60.00 in funny money. There is a good chance they stopped at other businesses along the way.
