Federal Prisoner Pleads Guilty To Assaulting Prison Guard and Carjacking

by Alex Lloyd Gross

Basir Blow, 26, of Philadelphia just made things 1000 times worse for himself, with his actions inside the Federal Detention Center in Philadelphia .

Blow was in custody for a carjacking charge in West Philadelphia on April 3, 2025, carjacking in West Philadelphia in which he pistol-whipped the victim with a loaded handgun and stole their 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Police chased the vehicle and Blow crashed the stolen Jeep into a pole before being taken into custody.

While he was held in jail, he came in contact with a cell phone. A prison guard saw him in his cell with his cellmate and demanded the phone. As the other cellmate used his body to block the officer, Blow broke the phone and ran into the common area.

The guard pursued him and then Blow beat the guard, took his pepper spray and sprayed it into the guard’s face. When another guard came to help, they too were pepper sprayed. Eventually, a Special Operations response Team was called and took Blow into custody along with his phone.

Blow entered a guilty plea to the assault and the carjacking. He will be sentenced December 21, 2026. He can get life in prison if he is convicted.
