The Philadelphia Sheriff’s Department will have six months of supervision after multiple documents relating to sales of property and real estate went unprocessed. It was learned that thousands of pages requested by Court Of Common Pleas Judge Paula Patrick.
This is highly unusual but then so is the lack of fulfillment on the part of Billal’s department. When a property is paid for the sheriff, it has been known to take over a year for the department to process the deed to the sale. Normally,this process takes about 30 days.
The judge was not specific in when the supervision would start or who would be in charge of it. Apparently, this mess has been gong on for close to three years.
At a hearing on the matter held yesterday, Bilal was not called to testify, She was not in uniform when she was in the courtroom. Then, there are issues with legally mandated distribution sheets, which detail how money from each auction is divided. That paperwork is also backlogged and at times, not even filed.
The sheriff department is in the process of automating the process for taking care of sheriff sales.
