Uber Passenger Shot In Northeast Philly

An Uber driver that just picked up a passenger drove his car on the 4600 block of Shelmire Avenue last night about 11:10 PM quickly found himself trying to get away after a gunman fired at least 14 shots towards the car. The driver, who did not want to be identified, stated he just started driving for the ride share company and liked the overnight hours.

When the gunfire erupted, the driver said he was frozen n fear for a few seconds and then hearing his passenger was shot drove the vehicle to Nazareth Hospital. The passenger sustained gun shot wounds to his legs. He was admitted in stable condition. It was only when he got to the hospital that he saw the bullet holes in his car.

The driver was not shot. He did sustain cuts to his arms from the shattered glass. He was treated and released. No other injuries were reported. Police were at the scene looking for evidence and ring camera footage. No arrests have been made.

The driver said he plans to stop driving for Uber after this incident.
