It was just after 1:15 PM today, when an alleged drunk driver took his car onto the grass located at the Polish Home Association at 9150 Academy Rd. He uprooted bushes, ripped up a railing and smashed through a fence, before hitting a berm and going airborne . When the car landed, it was on it’s side, in some thick weeds.
Police police the driver under arrest for suspected DUI. His passenger was taken to a local hospital for injuries. Academy Road was closed from Holme to Willits , going towards Grant Avenue as emergency workers were on the scene.
PECO was called to the scene but they were not needed. It will be hours before the vehicle is removed from the thicket.
