Supermarket workers are on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. They come in close contact with customers as they stock shelves, bag orders and take money. It was only a matter of time, before one of them locally would come down with coronavirus symptoms. That employee of the Redners market on the 1300 block of E. Lincoln Highway noticed the onset of symptoms.
They notified their doctor and the store. They self quarantined and have not been in the store since March 21, 2020, Redners said in a statement. Thee store was closed for a deep cleaning of the entire store, including cards, baskets, and handles and touch screens. On March 27, 2020 it will re open to the public. In a statement, the store management said that it will adhere to social distancing guidelines and any other recommendations given to them by the CDC or health department.
Effective immediately, outside bags cannot be used for grocery check out and markers and signage has been placed in local stores to encourage and enforce social distancing.
