Lt. James Walker, a dedicated public servant with over 30 years with the Philadelphia Police Department died this past weekend, due to complications from COVID-19. He was 59 years old. Lt. Walker worked in the traffic division. Lieutenant Walker, worked previously in the 16th, 35th, 3rd, 29th, 26th, 25th, and the now-disbanded 92nd and 4th districts, along with assignments in Internal Affairs and the Narcotics Strike Force.
The saddest part is that due to the coronavirus being highly contagious, a timely funeral with all of the fanfare he deserves is not going to happen right away. he was planning to retire in December of this year, police officials said.
in a prepared statement the department released said :Losing Lieutenant James Walker to complications from Covid-19 is deeply painful,” says Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw. “The loss of his life illustrates the commitment that he and members of the Philadelphia Police Department have to serve the communities of this city, even in times of unprecedented risk and challenge. Lt. Walker devoted nearly 33 years to serving the communities in Philadelphia. I appreciate his and other members’ commitment. With a Covid-19 surge anticipated in our area, PPD members are expected to follow protocols put in place to reduce the risk of exposure to themselves and others. With that said, we are constantly assessing our protocols and will adjust them as necessary and/or as we receive additional PPE
