With so many people out of work, many are waiting for stimulus checks, food stamps or unemployment. The coronavirus shut down as thrown a monkey wrench in peoples lives. One local business is hoping to make the hard times a bit easier. Nicks Roast Beef. Free meals are being handed out at both locations, in the old Franklin Mills Mall and on Cottman Ave. The promotion runs until the food is gone. Or 5:00 PM.
Whoever said there is no free lunch clearly was not at any of these locations. It is drive up or walk up. The wait is about 30 minutes, as cars snake through a lot. The people at Nicks are wearing masks and gloves. You are given a choice between friend chicken or meatloaf. Word got out via social media and people started to line up quick to make sure they did not run out.. As of 11:40 AM both locations had plenty of food.
This is open to anyone, no questions asked. Homeless, employed, working, laid off , it does not matter. Just show up. Say thank you. Obviously, this is take out only.
