How does a 7th grader get a gun to fire in an elementary school?  That is the question that police want to know, after he fired it in a boys restroom today at the W.E Rhodes Elementary School which is located on the 3900 block of West Clearfield Street.  There were no injuries.

It was at 11:25 AM when the boy fired a shot from the gun inside the first floor restroom. He immediately  ran from the scene, leaving the gun behind. It is unknown if he knew it was loaded. Police know who he is and are going to arrest him. They have some questions, such as who owns the gun and was the child that fired it the same one that brought it in? They have been in contact with the boys parents.

Police said they recovered the gun. As son as parents heard about the incident, they rushed to the school to get their kids. Even though, there was no need. The school was briefly placed on lock down until police determined the gun was secured and there was no other danger to the students.  There are no metal detectors for this school It is an elementary school.
