Bensalem Police Conclude Peter Romano’s Murder Investigation

It was on Halloween October 31, 2023 when shots rang out on Route 13 at Woodbine Avenue. Multiple people were shot, and one of them, Peter Romano died from his injuries. It was a long and arduous investigation but it has concluded, Bensalem Police said. The facts of the case are as follows.

There was one shooter. His name was Sean Hughes. He fled the area. Days after the shooting was found by police in Marysville Ohio. He was in a stolen car at the time of the incident. In Ohio, police engaged in a pursuit of the car which ended on Bear Swamp Road. The driver, Sean Hughes killed himself with a pistol. A passenger, Joshua Marquez. was arrested by police in Ohio and charged with helping Hughes . You can read more here.

More investigation was done with the gun a Sig Sauer. It was reported stolen from an apartment in Philadelphia. Police said Hughes is the person that stole the gun. The original buyer of the gun Kenrick R. Winslow, told police that he gave the gun to another person that should not have had it. Winslow was arrested and charged with Illegal Transfer of Firearm, a Misdemeanor of the second degree. District Justice Christopher O’Neill arraigned Winslow and was released on his recognizance on $15,000 bail.

Police did DNA tests on the gun and determined that Hughes was the only shooter and the stolen Sig Sauer was the only firearm used in the murder. Hughes did communicate with other people to let them know he was responsible for the shooting. Police interviewed those people.

After a thorough investigation, the Bensalem Township Police Department found no evidence that anyone other than Sean Hughes was involved in the shooting and homicide in Bensalem Township on October 31, 2023.
