Bensalem Police have identified a 19 year old male as a “person of interest” in the shooting death of 14 year old Peter Romano on Halloween night.

Peter Romano

The male that did the shooting was seated in a car, which was identified through security camera footage and license plate readers as a 2014 Hyundai Elantra. The car was stolen from Bristol Township. Police put out a nationwide All Points Bulletin for this car and an alert officer on patrol in Marysville Ohio spotted the car and tried to stop it. The driver did not stop and fled. It was spotted near 5th and Chestnut Streets in Marysville. According to Marysvile Police, An officer was able to deploy spike strips along Northwest Parkway near Poling Road ahead of the pursuit. While the spike strips were effective, the vehicle continued to flee onto Poling Road from Northwest Parkway. Marysville officers continued the pursuit along Poling Road onto Bear Swamp Road.

A police foot pursuit was started and the driver, identified as Sean Hughes,19, from Morrisville Pa. got out of the car and ran on foot. Police there set up a perimeter and tried to track him. They eventually found Hughes dead from a self inflicted gunshot wound. A passenger in the car jumped out and ran. Police took him into custody and he suffered a medical issue and went to a local hospital. His involvement, if any in the shooting is unknown.

We may never know the motive behind this senseless killing. The internet is filled with rumors and theory, each one as far fetched as the next.
