One student was arrested after he allegedly stabbed two staff members with a smuggled in steak knife at the Castor Gardens Middle School. Police said the stabbing happened around noon. Both of the victims were female staff members.
One, a 62 year old woman was taken to the hospital with a stab wound and the other, a woman in her 30’s sustained a wound to her arm but declined to go to the hospital. Students were the placed in lock down. The stabbing happened inside the school, which is located on the 1800 block of Cottman Ave.
Parents were notified and they rushed to the school to pick up their children. As they waited in line, their names were checked and called, the student located and then the student was released. It was a time consuming process. An orderly line spilled onto the sidewalk on Cottman Avenue as parents waited for their children.
No students were hurt. The student that was arrested will face juvenile charges and is not going to be going back to that school, sources said. It is unknown if they will be held in custody or released to their parents.
