Philadelphia Police are looking for a black tow truck with duel wheels. A vehicle matching that description was responsible for hitting at pedestrian near 26th and Penrose Ave. in South Philadelphia last night. Police said the crash happened about 9:30 PM.
The pedestrian was dragged about 100 feet,police said. They died at the scene. Police said the tow truck has damage to the left side and the driver knew he hit something.
Cameras and license plate readers and being checked and examined in the area. From there, police can extrapolate who the driver was and what tow company owned the truck. Should the driver attempt to fix the truck, that person will face additional charges of obstruction of justice and evidence tampering, police said.
It is unknown where the tow truck was going when the crash happened. It did not have a vehicle on the back of it. Police said the pedestrian could have been homeless.
