Gregory Stevens, was arrested in 2021. He was facing serious prison time for shooting a pharmacist in Kensington earlier that year. He walked into the Universal Pharmacy on the 3900 block of Kensington Ave. and announced a hold up. He did not want money, he wanted Oxycontin. He forced the pharmacy employee into the back room and when the employee put Stevens in a bear hug, Stevens broke free and shot him. Stevens got away with $8200.00 in drugs .The pharmacy employee spend three days in intensive care and his liver was servery damaged by the bullet. You can read the story here.
This week, he learned that that escapade will cost him over 40 years of his life, behind bars. Greg Stevens is no stranger to prison. He was a felon, convicted of a 2014 robbery . He should have been in prison but he was out, riding with a gang of illegal dirt bike riders. On March 9,2021 he was on South Broad Street near Washington Ave, when a 16 year old inexperienced driver tapped his rear tire, when Stevens stopped short on the road.
Stevens grabbed a gun, almost shot the 16 year old and then got a cinder block and tossed it through the rear window of the car. The incident was caught on video and it horrified civilized people al over the world. You can read that story here..
The sentence of 413 months translates to more than 40 years Stevens must serve for his crimes. This in in addition to any state time he will do .
“Gregory Stevens has proven himself to be a vicious and violent repeat offender with no regard for others,” said U.S. Attorney Romero. “He was so determined to steal drugs, he shot a pharmacy employee, inflicting life-changing injuries. Just two weeks later, his shocking assault on a driver horrified people around the world. The lengthy sentence imposed today ensures Mr. Stevens will be off the street for decades, making the city safer for all.”
