Local Politicians Santarsiero And Davis Provide Funds For Historic Bristol Borough
by Dan Doyle and Alex Lloyd Gross
State Senator Steve Santarsiero and State Rep. Tina Davis were in Bristol Borough to disperse $60,000 dollars to Bristol Borough Raising The Bar. The money will be used for construction of a Commemorative Lincoln Platform on Pond Street.

Back in February 1861 newly elected President Abe Lincoln was going to his inaugural in Washington DC. He was going by train and Bristol Borough was going to be his only stop in Bucks County. He also stopped in Philadelphia.
The money, $60,000 is going towards erecting a memorial to the site where Lincoln spoke. “President’s were inaugurated on March 4, up until Roosevelt in the 1930’s., when it was changed to January 20, said Senator Santaserio. He should know, he was a history teacher.

When Lincoln spoke it was from the back of a train but that would be too cumbersome and too involved to built, according to Bill Pezza, Of “Raising The Bar” in Bristol Borough, they improvised and are building a makeshift strain station with a platform.
No timetable was given for the completion of the work. The memorial will feature QR codes ( and hopefully full URL’s for those that do not no QR codes) to link to the 16th President’s famous speeches
