Bristol Township Man Pleads Guilty To Secretly Recording Underage Girl In Bathroom
by Dan Doyle- A Bristol Township man who secretly recorded his former girlfriend and her teenage daughters using hidden cameras was sentenced Thursday to jail time and probation, concluding a disturbing criminal case that began in 2023.
On Thursday May 22, 2025, John V. Dutton, 55, was sentenced by Bucks County Common Pleas Judge Charissa J. Liller to 6 to 23 months in the Bucks County Correctional Facility, followed by 11 years of consecutive probation. The sentencing follows Dutton’s February guilty plea to multiple charges, including six counts of invasion of privacy, two counts of interception of oral communications, and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

The investigation began in August 2023 when the mother of the victims discovered what appeared to be a USB phone charger in the bathroom of their shared home, which she suspected was actually a spy camera. She had grown suspicious after Dutton insisted on using either no shower curtain or a transparent one in the communal bathroom.
After discovering the device and leaving it unplugged in the bathroom, the mother noticed it had disappeared following Dutton’s extended time alone in the room. A further search of the property uncovered another hidden camera in the pool cabana area.
In November 2023, Bristol Township Police, with assistance from Bucks County Detectives, executed a search warrant on the home. Investigators seized Dutton’s cell phone, which contained video recordings of the girls undressing and showering between February 2021 and March 2023. Officers also found methamphetamine during the search.
A subsequent warrant for an iCloud account linked to Dutton revealed 261 additional audio and video files showing the girls in various states of undress, recorded over the same two-year span.
During the sentencing hearing, one of the victims submitted a handwritten impact statement that was read aloud in court. In it, she expressed deep emotional trauma, writing, “I have lost so many hours of sleep because I can’t turn thoughts and feelings off about these events.” She added, “I am no longer the same and never will be.”
The case was prosecuted by Chief Deputy District Attorney Kristin M. McElroy, with Bristol Township Detective Al Asmann leading the investigation.
