MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, PA – A Philadelphia man has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting that occurred outside the Oxford Valley Mall on June 19, 2025.

Shannon James Lewis, 33, was taken into custody Friday morning by the Middletown Township Police Department with assistance from Bucks County Detectives and the Philadelphia Police Department. He is facing charges including aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and possession of an instrument of crime.

The shooting happened June 19, 2025, around 5:03 p.m. near the JC Penney bus stop at the mall, located at 2300 East Lincoln Highway. Responding officers found the victim inside the mall suffering from a gunshot wound to his left forearm.

According to investigators, the victim had been waiting for a SEPTA bus when Lewis allegedly approached him. After a brief conversation, Lewis reportedly pulled out a revolver-style handgun and shot the man without warning. Witnesses at the scene provided corroborating accounts.

Detectives were able to track Lewis using surveillance footage from both the mall and SEPTA. A key break in the case came when investigators identified the suspect’s registered SEPTA transit card and matched it to his driver’s license photo. A revolver was later recovered from Lewis’s Philadelphia residence.

Following his arrest, Lewis was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Charles Jonas and remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility under $750,000 bail, 10 percent.

“This investigation highlights the critical role that both advanced technology and old-fashioned police work play in solving crimes,” said Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn. “Detectives used every tool at their disposal to piece together the evidence in this case, and their meticulous work was key to identifying and apprehending a dangerous individual.”

Schorn praised the collaborative efforts between agencies, adding, “We will leave no stone unturned to bring those who commit violent acts to justice. We also want to thank the Philadelphia Police Department for their assistance in the safe apprehension of the defendant.”

The case is being prosecuted by Chief Deputy District Attorney Christopher W. Rees.
