BUCKS COUNTY, PA — A Levittown man wounded in an officer-involved shooting in Bensalem earlier this month is now facing a barrage of new felony charges tied to an armed robbery in Philadelphia and a violent roadside confrontation.

Prosecutors say John Thomas Mathis, 44,

robbed a Metro by T-Mobile store on the 7300 block of Frankford Avenue on August 2, stealing about $1,000 at gunpoint before fleeing on a motorcycle into Bucks County. Less than an hour later, police allege Mathis pointed a handgun at a motorist on Bristol Pike, threatened to kill them, and tried to flee on foot.

A Bensalem officer shot Mathis after he ignored commands to drop the weapon. A 9mm pistol, not registered to him, was recovered. Mathis is barred from owning guns due to prior felony convictions.

He now faces multiple counts of robbery, firearms violations, terroristic threats, and reckless endangerment, among other offenses. The shooting remains under investigation.
