The annual Labor Day Oktoberfest is being held at Canstatters Club. This is located right off I-95 on Academy Road.  As soon as you get inside, you get the opportunity to meet Jethro. Jethro is a parrot who will be too happy to perch on your arm.  Selfies with him are free. Within a few steps past the bird, you get to see all kinds of stands selling European themed merchandise. From hats to full outfits it’s all there. Even some stands selling sports team memorabilia.

Around the corner is where most of the action is. Carnival rides from Johnson’s Family Amusements. Most of the rides are for kids but there are a few things that could make an adult dizzy. There are also games of chance where everyone gets a prize.  The reason that the majority of people attend an Oktoberfest is for food and beer. There is plenty of that.  Hamburgers are available . So is Schnitzel,  and Bratwurst for that matter This is the main food area  and it is located just as you enter. Lines move quick and the price has remained consistent over the past few years. That is very good to see.

Walk around the pavilion and that is where the beer is. It is available by the pitcher of by the glass. The best kept secret of that place is always the Fire Place. It’s a food stand right past the main tent. Those that discover it later, wish they did sooner. It’s a place to get roast chicken, or  ripchen, for example. It cost a tad more than the main food area but it is worth every penny.

Canstatters is a great place to go with friends or to meet new ones. That is why people who want to go for only a few hours end up staying and when it is all said and done, they are well fed and they have not spent a ton of money.  The picnic tables are filled with people . If the weather is too hot, there is always inside the clubhouse. Yes,  there is a bar located inside there as well.
