2024 Philly Auto Show Is Smaller Than Before
by Alex Lloyd Gross
Going to the Philadelphia International Auto Show this year, people notice one thing. It is smaller than in previous years. There are still a ton of cars to see and things to explore but not every brand is represented.
The luxury, high end exotic cars are there, that few people reading this can afford. They cost $230,000 and up. If you buy one, you have to take it to the dealer for an oil change or tire rotation. They are expensive, clocking in at about $1500.00. Most people are looking at Fords, Chevy’s, Hondas and Toyotas.
There is a boring track where you are a passenger in a car as a “professional driver” will take an electric car for a spin on the convention floor, in a roped of area, of course. It is all boring, even the wait in line. Most people that do this come away less than thrilled.

Toyota is the company that is allowing you to drive their cars on city streets. The ride and drive event gives you the opportunity to feel what the car is like . It’s less than a mile drive but it’s a heck of a lot more fun than going in a passenger seat. Get to the show early. Ford has a virtual race car that you can try out. It’s a video game but it’s realistic and a heck of a lot of fun. The line for this attraction grows and it’s worth the wait.
As you walk through a doorway to another exhibit hall, you can see custom rides, that have fancy paint jobs and booming sound systems. Expert at the show say any car can be customized if the money is right.

Actors and athletes are starting to come back to the show. Over the weekend, World B Free from the Sixers, Bernie Parent and Dave Schultz from the Flyers made an appearance. They will be there to close out the show on the last day as well. Chad Lindberg, from October Sky and Fast and the Furious is there signing autographs as well. In spite of the smaller size, it is still worth it to go to this show.
