Serial Overnight Burglar Busted In Bensalem, Now Charged In Feasterville

Chiayi Chen of the Ogontz section of Philadelphia was arrested on October 15, .2023 in Bensalem, after he was caught inside a business when it was closed. He tried to run but was captured anyway. While he was cooling his heels in the Bucks County Prison, under $100,000 bail, police in Lower Southampton Twp. were investigating multiple overnight burglaries.
On August 24,2023, Guy’s Bicycles where the theft of a $1700 E-Bike was taken.The front window of the store was smashed Security cameras showed the thief taking the bike to the rear of the business. police said the bike was recovered eventually.
On October 1, 2023 police said the same male was trying to break into the Select Jewelry store on Street Road, by prying open the backdoor. He was interrupted by a nearby resident. He never got into the store but he caused $3500.00 in damage to the store in his attempted break in.
The burglar was busy that day as he also hit the AT&T phone store on Bustleton Pike, just over the line from Philadelphia. At 5:00 AM he forced open a door and took $1000.00 in merchandise.
In all of the above instances, police said the male was caught on video. More investigation was done and Chen, was arrested last week and charged with burglary and theft byLower Southampton authorities. He was previously held in prison under $100,000 bail. That was reduced to $25,000 which a 10 percent surety bond was posted.
Police said that Chen is wanted for multiple overnight burglaries in the tri-state area.
