Two Arrested For Masterminding Retail Theft Operation

Police announced the arrests of Janiah Robinson from the 37XX block of North 17th Street and Ayonna Robinson from the 27XX block of Winton Street. Police said that the two masterminded a ring of shoplifters that would hit LULUMON stores in Philadelphia and Montgomery County.

They would seek out people with no criminal record and entice them to steal for them, police said. One of their protege’s was a nine year old child. They would grab merchandise and run out of the store with it. In one case, her thieves used pepper spray to facilitate their crime.

The stolen goods were sold at swap meets or anywhere else, police said. The Robinson’s were charged with Retail Theft and Criminal Conspiracy. Bail was set at $180,000.
