by Alex Lloyd Gross

A knock on the door. Two males are there and they look somewhat official. They told the homeowner they were from a construction company and needed to check on the victims back deck. They told the victim the Building Inspector sent them. They were polite. The homeowner allowed one to go inside his house on the 2900 block of Juniper Street. It happened on June 12, 2024 in the afternoon, police said.

As the thief and victim are on the rear deck the thief draws the victim into a conversation. He wants to keep them distracted for a long time, so his partner can get into the house and rob it. That’s exactly what police said happened. As the two were talking, the second male gained entry to the house and stole assorted jewelry from the second floor bedroom, police said.

No threats and no force was used in the theft, police said. The males left going north on Juniper Street.
