  1. When I was young, and in my early 20’s, I could walk up Bridge street from Jackson, and go to that newsstand at Pratt/Frankford ave in the evenings to get a newspaper for my mom.
    That was around 1972-1976.
I absolutely had no fear of going there, back then.
I had a side job at a stereo store just behind Tancredi drugstore at Fkd & Bridge in 1973.
And my first apartment was on Dyre St near Oxford ave. – circa 1980-84.
I’d walk down Dyre to the 711 for ice cream.

I’d even sometimes walk from Jackson st up Harrison st to Frankford High in my teens.
Life in Frankford was just normal.

    But NOW?
You wouldn’t even catch me driving near that neighborhood in broad daylight today.
My parents old home on the 5100 block of Jackson st has turned from a quiet peaceful neighborhood into a sloppy pigpen of a ghetto.

    Those are Facts.
    I know I know…. times change.
But when they change for the bad, you have to becomes disgusted over such things going on.
My memories, old home movies that I took, are proof that make me sick of how Frankford has turned into a crime pit.
I’ve said before… “We didn’t give that neighborhood in that condition”
Homes were painted, flowers were grown, streets were clean, neighbors got along.
You could walk up Bridge street for an evening stroll.

Real damn shame how that area has gotten into.
