Police Announce Arrest In Shooting Of Infant In Northeast Philly

Philadelphia Police just finished a press conference to announce the arrest of the female they suspect shot a seven month old infant earlier this week on Meridian Street. The motive was over a $100.00 narcotics debt, police said.

Dominique Billups of Northeast Philadelphia was arrested by police last night, as she attempted to drive away from one of her residences. Police put out information and photos and video showing the shooting and the suspect. They then went back out the next day to get more video and this video was very clear, said Dennis Rosenbaum, of the Shooting Investigations Group.

One detective recognized Billups as being a previous shooting victim on Rhawn Street last year. That case remains unsolved, Rosenbaum said. In another twist to this case, Rosenbaum said that the parents of the infant were reluctant to speak with police because they both had warrants out. They did contact police and eventually police got their warrants taken care of.

The infant is still in the hospital in stable condition. Billups is charged with Aggravated Assault, and weapons offenses. Her mug shot has not yet been made available, as she is still being processed.
