Male Shot On Frankford Avenue Overnight

by Alex Lloyd Gross

A Philadelphia Police Officer on routine patrol heard gunshot early this morning coming from the 4600 block of Frankford Ave. When that officer investigated further, he found a 33 year old male who had been shot once in the stomach.

Police transported him to Temple University Hospital, where he was p-laced in critical condition. No weapons were recovered but officers did find ballistic evidence from a 9mm pistol.

Detectives have been at the location to review any security camera footage.

  1. People often say “Times Change”, and indeed they do.
Growing up in Frankford back in the 1960’s and 1970s, I often walked Fkd Ave to explore and do shopping.
Stopping by Pat’s Records store to check out the latest records (vinyl for all you younger folks).
Stopping at American Pants Company for some new clothes.
And even strolled the ave in the evenings for some exercise after enjoying mom’s home cooking.

But you won’t see me get nowhere near that area today!
    Not even in the daytime!

Looking at google maps view of that area, all those boarded up and closed storefronts the critters hanging out on the avenue…. it’s a sad reminder of the changing times.
4600 Fkd ave at Orthodox st looks like a first class ghetto, a mirror image of Kensington & Somerset.
