Vehicle Destroys House After Crash In Far Northeast

A house was severely damaged after an SUV crashed into it, severing a gas main early this morning. According to witnesses, the SUV crashed into a property at 2101 Morrell Ave. about 1:45 AM. The force of the crash broke a gas line which resulted in a large fire company response along with utilities.
The driver and two occupants fled from the scene on foot. One may have been injured. They left the homeowner to deal with the damage that resulted in the house being declared uninhabitable. A notice was place on the door giving the homeowner 30 days to make repairs or destroy the property.
Workers labored through eh early morning hours to board up the property and tow the car. Eventually, police said the driver returned and cooperated with police.
