Santa Arrives In Bensalem For Tree Lighting

by Alex Lloyd Gross

A small but very enthusiastic crowd was at the Bensalem Twp. building last night to welcome Santa and his wife, to town. At exactly 5:00PM Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo joined council members in real quick welcoming remarks. They were smart. The audience was filled with children who do not want to hear long speeches.

Instead they got to sing Christmas songs as sirens wailed in the near distance. Those sirens were from the Eddington Fire Company, who had the privilege of escorting Santa, right after the holiday tree and “Happy Holidays” sign was lit.

Santa arrived on a trailer complete with a smoking chimney and brick fireplace. As soon as Santa was parked, children could visit and get photos with him. They all told him what they wanted and promised they have been good all year. Free cookies were given out to anyone that wanted one. The event delighted children of all ages.
