Tik-Tok Looks To US Supreme Court For Lifeline
by Alex Lloyd Gross
The United States Supreme Court has been asked by Tik-Tok for a life saving parson. Congress voted to ban the popular app after it was said the parent company, Bytedance is owned by China.
Over 100 million users in the United States use Tik-Tok to watch videos or sell products. Many earn a good living from the platform. In a hypocritical move, several politicians turned to Tik-Tok in the hopes of connecting with younger voters. It worked for Donald Trump, who won a landslide victory and he credits Tik-Tok with helping him do this.”I do have a soft spot for Tik-Tok,” Trump recently said.
The same politicians that had accounts were the same ones that voted to ban the app. Voters are not stupid and they know Joe Biden signed the ban into law and Harris would do nothing to stop it. Their attempts to connect with younger people fell flat. You vote to ban Tik-Tok, you call it a threat to Americans privacy and then you use the very same app.
The US Supreme Court has been served with a petition to stay the order and hear the case. Their decision is going to affect free speech. Many videos contain snippets of movies or animals. Many Americans have become famous due to Tik-Tok and the income derived from sales of merchandise and their video monetization has helped many pay their bills.
There is no word on when the US Supreme Court will rule on this petition.
