Police Release Video Of Center City Church Thief

Philadelphia Police are working to identify and arrest the individual who they say broke into the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 21 S 13th Street. The theft happened at1:04 AM when the thief, captured in photos and videos broke a stained glass window to gain entry.

Once inside, he stole a crown adorned with gems from the head of a Mary statue inside the Church. The thief made his escape in a grey Mitsubishi that he parked at the end of a small street or driveway.. The tag is unreadable.

Police did not say if the car was stolen or not.f you see this suspect do not approach, contact 911 immediately.

    A lowlife?
    Thinking that he could sell it for money?
    Who’d be stupid enough to even think that?
    Any respectable pawn shop would turn that down.
