Tik Tok Shuts Down Due To The Actions Of One US Senator
by Alex Lloyd Gross
Senator Tom Cotton is responsible for hurting 170 million Americans in their wallets, and shutting down free speech, when he objected to Senator Ed Markey’s bill that would give a 270 day extension to the hugely popular app. He was the ONLY one to object and that objection tanked the bill.
Internet sleuths have uncovered questionable stock trades and or holdings in Meta that were made by members of congress and the senate who voted to ban Tik Tok, just after the bill was made or before. Justices on the US Supreme Court also had stock in Meta, through Mutual Funds that invested in the tech giant. Meta, for those that do not know owns Facebook. A direct competitor to Tik Tok.
The bill to ban the social media app would never get approved on it’s own, so it was wrapped up and bundles in the what are called “must pass” bills. The ban Tik Tok bill put pushed into a bill to send aid to Israel.
An estimated $20 billion dollars is generated by Tik Tok by individual creators that sell goods to people all over the world, From T shirts of cats to intricate decorative lights and everything in between. Cotton did not care. Those goods were shipped via the United States Postal Service and United Parcel Service. The revenue generated by Tik Tok was staggering.

Cotton is going to be selling things too. He has a book coming out about China. Tik Tok is an American Company that has a parent company called Bytedance. That is the problem. Cotton things Bytedance is owned by the Chinese Communist Party. It is not. It is owned by investors all over the world, including China. Cotton wants Tik Tok spun off from Bytedance to an American company. There were claims that the information could be stolen and used by China.
All companies that keep Tik Tok operational in the US could be fined upwards of $12 billion every 12 hours the app is operational in the US. Not wanting to face that fine, Tik Tok went dark about 10:30PM last night. Users got a warning that it would go dark about(:00PM.By 10:30PM, when people were scrolling, for videos or watching, the app was cut off. Users got a message that Tik Tok is unavailable.

President Joe Bidens said that his administration would not enforce the ban, but would pass it to incoming President Donald Trump. Tik Tok executives needed further assurance that they could operate for 36 hours. When that did not come, the app was shut down. Biden did nothing to help 170 million people beyond give lip service.
President Trump has vowed to get Tik Tok back up and running for America. There are serious offers on the table to sell to different investors, for upwards of $20 Billion. Cotton’s office was flooded with telephone calls and emails from people all around the country calling his a jackass and much worse. Many of those calls were recorded and posted to Tik Tok.
As a giant middle finger to Cotton, many Tik Tok refugees jumped on an app that IS owned by communist China called Red Note. Cotton is from Arkansas. Some people started a campaign to unseat him and Cotton could very well lose his next election, as voters are furious at his actions. The American people do not like being told what to do by a politician that is not working for the best interest of 170 million citizens.Especially when they are profiting from those decisions.
