Governor Shapiro Gives Back On MLK Day Of Service

by Alex Lloyd Gross

During Martin Luther King Day, people have taken time off and done things for others, without compensation. It’s called A National Day Of Service. That could be cleaning up other peoples neighborhoods, serving food in a soup kitchen or even delivering food to those less fortunate.

The Jewish Relief Agency located on Dutton Road was where Governor Josh Shapiro went yesterday during the early morning hours to help pack food. The food is distributed to those families in the region that are in need.

Multiple Jewish organizations and Synagogues sent teams of people to help , so there were literally hundreds of people doing their part. Shapiro grabbed an empty box and walked down a line, where volunteers would pack the box with food. Then another volunteer would take the box to another line and before you know it, the box was full with essentials.

Those boxes where then packaged up and delivered to specific people, who signed up. The Jewish Relief Agency is an independent , non profit organization that distributes kosher food to people the the region. JRA is not a government agency or program.
