Police Make Arrests For Bad Behavior During NFL Championship Celebrations

Philadelphia Police confirmed that 31 people were issued citations for disorderly conduct or failure to disburse when those people went out in various areas of the city to celebrate the Eagles advancing to the Super Bowl.

When it was all said an done, there will be many more people arrested for climbing on buildings, or otherwise damaging property. The windows to Larry Krasner’s office were damaged and the front door was shattered.

Late Sunday evening, at 11:21 PM, a 39-year-old male arrived at Albert Einstein Medical Center with two graze wounds to his chest and stomach. He reported that the injuries occurred earlier while driving south on Broad Street near Spring Garden Street, where he heard gunshots from a crowd. Police continue to investigate the incident with the Shooting Investigation Group (SIG). Around 10:00 PM, while dispersing a large crowd at 100 South Broad Street, officers encountered verbal hostility. At some point, an officer was struck in the head by a full water bottle. No arrests have been made, and the Central Detective Division is investigating.

At 9:31 PM, a silver 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA250 struck multiple pedestrians at 1400 Spring Garden Street before being stopped by police. Eight individuals sustained various injuries, ranging from pain to fractures. The driver, a 26-year-old female, was taken into custody, and Central Detectives are conducting an ongoing investigation. The driver , 26-year-old Rebekah DeShields of Narberth, PA, was taken into custody. She faces charges including Aggravated Assault, Driving without a License, Simple Assault, Reckless Driving, and related offenses.

Just minutes earlier, at 9:25 PM, officers encountered a 20-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound at 1300 Chestnut Street. The victim was transported to Jefferson ER in stable condition, but no suspects or arrests have been identified. Additionally, at 9:12 PM, officers responded to the 1800 block of Sansom Street after reports of gunfire. Five shell casings and a small amount of blood were found, but no victims were located.

Earlier that evening, at 7:45 PM, officers responded to a stabbing at 3600 S. 11th Street. A 25-year-old male had been stabbed in the leg following a verbal altercation and was transported to Penn-Presbyterian Medical Center in stable condition. The suspect, 34-year-old Tramayne Davis-Blockson, was arrested at the scene and charged with Aggravated Assault, Possession of an Instrument of Crime, and Recklessly Endangering Another Person.

Two officers were assaulted while working the NFC Championship detail. At 6:20 PM, an officer was attacked at 700 Pattison Avenue by 32-year-old Jose Moya of Soquel, California, who was charged with Aggravated Assault and related offenses. Earlier, at 4:40 PM, another officer was assaulted at 1100 Pattison Avenue during a disturbance. The offender, 44-year-old Eugene Dennis of Media, Pennsylvania, was also charged with Aggravated Assault and related charges.

The Philadelphia Police Department is also aware of a video circulating on social media of an unidentified male shooting into the air at Frankford and Cottman Avenues. An investigation has begun with Northeast Detectives to identify this individual.
