
Substantial Updates To Jet Crash Impact Zone On Cottman Avenue

Over 343 residents and 75 businesses have been impacted from the Lear Jet crash on January 31, 2025. The crash caused the immediate evacuation and closure of the Roosevelt Mall and Cottman Avenue. As of noon yesterday, the mall has since been reopened and Cottman Ave is open with one lane closed going towards Algon Avenue in the area of the Roosevelt Mall .

A community town hall was held yesterday at the Solis- Cohen Elementary School, where the public could get information they need to held get financial help with such as lost revenue or wages. It was there that elected officials informed the public and different agencies set up tables to give out literature and answer questions.

A Multi Agency Resource Center, of MARC is now open at The MARC will be located at the Scattergood Building of Friends Hospital, 4641 Roosevelt Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA 19124. The MARC will be open Thursday, Feb. 6, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Outside of the town hall, a Victims Services trailer was positioned, to serve light snacks and give out copies of the police report, DC Number 25-02-004795. This report can be used for all insurance claims, officials said.

An emergency trailer will remain at the Roosevelt Mall to assist with the reconstruction of the road. During the meeting, officials praised the media and social media for getting the word out but also cautioned against blatant mis-information. Just a few blocks away, at Cottman and Bustleton Avenues, a candlelight vigil was held to remember the people who died. The remarks were given in Spanish and English. There will be another vigil Sunday at 7:00 PM organizers said.
