It took police about 36 hours to crack the case. Security footage from a neighbor captured the car parked and a male who police said is Jones driving away, after he makes a mad dash to the car. The VW Passat passed through multiple license plate readers. Police were able to track the car to Michigan, where authorities there seized the car, a lock pick tool and evidence of an incendiary device.

An adult victim heard suspicious noises and went to see if it was her son. It was not, police said it was Jones, after he broke into the house.
