Instacart Shoplifter Arrested At Wegmans

Instacart is a business that employs people to shop for people that doe not or cannot visit the grocery store. You upload your order and a personal shopper gets your order and delivers it to you. Elijah Samir Akbar, 35 of Philadelphia was at the Wegmans in Warrington shopping for an Instacart order.

On March 3, 2025 he was working and grabbed things for the order. He also grabbed just over $200.00 in merchandise for himself. When it came time to pay, police said that Akbar paid for the Instacart order without issue.

However he had allegedly concealed other items in reusable bags and placed other items in his cart. He walked out the store without paying for those items police said. Akbar was charged with Retail Theft and Receiving Stolen Property. He was processed at the police station and released. His status with Instacart is unknown.
