Senior Citizen Shoots Intruder in Self Defense in South Philly

Police in South Philly were called to the 1600 block of South 18th Street. The nature of the call was a burglary in progress and a person with a gun 1600 block of South 18th Street. The call came in just after 1:15 this morning.
When officers arrived, they found a male in his 30’s laying dead in the first floor hallway of the home. Police said the shooter was a 70 year old male who is cooperating with police. He has not been arrested or charged with any crime .
Police said this is being investigated as a case of self defense. One weapon was recovered. Police did not say if it was from the homeowner.
