Arson Fire Destroys Car Repair Business In Northeast Philly

It was just after 4:30 AM today, when an unknown person(s) threw a Molotov cocktail type device at a car that was parked unattended outside an auto repair business on Old Bustleton Ave. The car burst into flames, and those flames then extended into an auto repair shop, police said.

There were no injuries reported. The fire department went in service with all hands, . Due to a narrow driveway, apparatus placement was difficult. Multiple fire hoses had to be stretched to reach the fire. This resulted in Old Bustleton Avenue being closed for several hours.

Hours later, a front end loader was called in to remove vehicles from the business. This business sits on a plot of land that is occupied by Hilltown Auto. The owners of this business say that the actual shop that was on fire was not connected with their shop.

Multiple city agencies were on scene to assist the Fire Marshal and to ensure the building is safe to stand, after fire overhaul. Sources said that it could take months to rebuild the business. In the meantime, investigators are busy looking for security camera footage of the arsonist.
