Person Struck By Train In Bensalem
by Alex Lloyd Gross
A person was struck by an Amtrak Train yesterday and killed. This happened near the Cornwells Station on the northbound tracks. Trains traveling south were not affected.

The entire northbound side of the station was closed. Amtrak commuter train #2162 was traveling from Washington SC to Boston, when the incident happened, officials said. The train was stopped a distance away from the initial incident.

Both SEPTA and Amtrak trains were affected. Officials did not say if the person committed an act of suicide or if the person was accidentally hit by the train, after trespassing on the railroad tracks. There is a secure bridge and pathway for people to traverse between the north and south bound tracks, at that location.

The train was carrying 231 passengers at the time of the strike, officials said. The identity of the person killed has not been released.
