A 17-year-old former employee of Jersey Mike’s Subs has been taken into custody in connection with a burglary at the sandwich shop located in the Cross Keys Shopping Center, authorities announced last week.

According to the Plumstead Township Police Department, officers were dispatched to the store just before midnight on March 17, 2025, after a report of a possible break-in. Upon arrival, officers discovered the front door’s glass had been completely shattered.

A sweep of the premises revealed the store was unoccupied. Investigators reviewed surveillance footage from both inside and outside the business, which showed a suspect approaching from the area of the Route 611 bypass. The individual then walked to the front of the store, shattered the glass door, and entered.

Footage shows the suspect crossing behind the counter and heading directly to the location of the store’s cash box. It looked to investigators that he knew where to go and what would be there. After retrieving it, the individual exited through the rear door and was last seen walking back in the direction of the bypass.

Following an investigation, detectives were able to identify the suspect as a 17-year-old former employee of the same Jersey Mike’s location. The juvenile was taken into custody without incident on March 20, 2025.

The suspect is facing one count of felony burglary (F2) of a building without overnight accommodations, and related charges.
