
Woman Killed In Hit and Run On Cottman Avenue

Authorities are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred late Thursday night in Northeast Philadelphia, claiming the life of a woman who has yet to be identified.

Police say the incident happened around 11:27 PM, on the 2800 block of Cottman Avenue. According to a preliminary investigation, a dark-colored SUV was traveling eastbound when it struck a Hispanic female pedestrian who was crossing Cottman Avenue from the north side to the south side.

Officials said the impact was severe, and the SUV dragged the woman before the driver fled the scene in an unknown direction.

Medics from the Philadelphia Fire Department responded and rushed the woman to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where she was treated for critical injuries, including head and chest trauma and internal bleeding. Despite efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead at 12:27 AM. Friday morning.

The Philadelphia Police Department’s Crash Investigation Division is urging anyone with information about the driver or the vehicle to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously by contacting the Accident Investigation Division at 215-685-3180.
