Jeffrey Miller used to be in charge of the Pennsylvania State Police. Appointed by then Governor Ed Rendell in 2003. When he retired, State Police, Miller joined the National Football League, first serving as director of Strategic Security Programs. Later, as senior vice president and chief security officer, Miller oversaw security for all venues and events, including the Super Bowl and International Series. He has been chosen to lead the investigation to security at the Governor’s Mansion.

He was also the security director for the Kansas City Chiefs Football Team and senior vice president of MSA Security, a security consulting and training firm. He also has served as a member of the Homeland Security Advisory Council. This diverse background in threat assessment, site security, and personal security, along with his comprehensive knowledge of Pennsylvania’s government, makes him uniquely qualified to lead this review, officials said in a press statement .

Lots of questions remain about how Cody Balmer was able to access the governors mansion. Why he was not captured after the assault and why was he allowed to get close enough to shatter two windows and set multiple fires.

Miller will be asking questions about manpower and technology. It was 2:00AM. How many people were working the security staff for the governor and what were they doing at the time of the attack? What kind of cameras and motion detectors were used and could they be upgraded?

Balmer turned himself in, after calling 911 and leaving a rambling statement about Governor Josh Shapiro and Palestine. Balmer’s lawyers have said they intend to have him get a mental health assessment. He is charged with attempted murder, arson and terrorism, as well as multiple other offenses.
