Sen Frank Farry and Other Elected Officials Secure Grant For Clean Water In Northampton Twp.

by Dan Doyle

April 24, 2025 — In a major win for public health and safety, Senator Frank Farry (R-6), along with Representatives Kristin Marcell (R-178) and Joe Hogan (R-142), announced today that the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) has approved a $13 million grant for the Northampton Bucks County Municipal Authority. The funding will be used to extend public water service to hundreds of residents in Northampton Township whose private wells have been affected by toxic contamination.

The investment comes in response to groundwater contamination linked to historic operations at the former Naval Air Warfare Center Warminster facility. Testing revealed the presence of PFOS and PFOA — two per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) — at levels exceeding those proposed by the Environmental Protection Agency for safe drinking water.

“I am proud to have partnered with Rep. Marcell and Rep. Hogan in supporting the funding for this important project, so these residents have safe, clean drinking water,” said Sen. Farry. He also credited Northampton Township Chairman Barry Selisker for his leadership in advocating for the grant and coordinating with the municipal authority.

The $13 million will fund the extension of public water infrastructure to 334 homes in the Churchville Manor and Hillside Manor subdivisions — neighborhoods that have been grappling with the fallout of PFAS contamination for years.

“This investment will allow the Authority to expand access to clean water and connect more homes to a safe supply,” said Rep. Marcell. “It’s a meaningful step forward for our community’s health and peace of mind.”

Rep. Hogan echoed the sentiment, stating, “This funding addresses a long-standing issue that has affected too many families. It reflects what’s possible when we work together to prioritize community needs.”

The Northampton Bucks County Municipal Authority will begin the planning and implementation process immediately, with the goal of restoring safe, reliable water access to affected residents as quickly as possible.

For more information about the project and its timeline, residents are encouraged to contact the municipal authority or their local representatives.

    Very good!
People are entitled to clean water coming from their taps.
Hell, they pay for the water, and expect it to be safe to use or consume.
