
Thief Blows Up ATM In North Philadelphia

An early-morning explosion rocked a North Philadelphia neighborhood on April 26,2025 when an ATM inside a Chinese Take Out business was damaged, on the 2900 block of Ridge Avenue, according to police.


At approximately 1:16 a.m., officers from the Philadelphia Police Department’s 22nd District responded to reports of an explosion on the 2900 block of Ridge Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered that an ATM located inside the store had been severely damaged. He Fortunately, placed an explosive device on the machine and ran away. When he returned to get the money, he found the money still secured in the machine, security viewed by Delaware Valley News.com video shows. No injuries were reported.


The owner was in the back when it happened. The bomb squad was called to examine the bomb and insure it was safe for investigators to process for clues. The ATM machine was owned by a third party who will be fixing the now damaged machine.
Philadelphia Police have not released any video or photos of the suspect.
