Fake Code Enforcement Violations Sent In Bucks County

by Alex Lloyd Gross

Someone in Upper Southampton Twp. is sending out fake violation notices to people or businesses for perceived violations of township code.

One such fake notice was sent through the United States Mail with a wrong address on it. The return address had the township building address as the return address. The individual who sent this out never thought that it would not be deliverable and returned to the Code Enforcement office.

This individual has trespassed onto residents properties and removed signs as well as mailed (USPS) fraudulent ordinance violation warnings to businesses operating in town.

In a statement, the township police said “The Township does not send unsolicited representatives to homes for inspections or licensing purposes. If you receive an unexpected visit from someone claiming to be from the Township, do not let them in and do not provide any personal information. If you are unsure about the legitimacy of a visit or have concerns, please contact the Upper Southampton Township Police Department immediately at 215.357.8900.

We are committed to protecting our community and appreciate your vigilance in reporting any suspicious activity.. Remember, it’s always better to err on the side of caution and verify the identity of any individual claiming to represent the Township or any other government agency.”

It is unknown how many times this has happened.

That hand-written envelope looks sloppy, suspicious, and unprofessional.
I’d suspect that it’s some kind of joke or scam.
At least something with decent labels or computer-printed would be more believable.
Like dinner at a decent restaurant, product/food appearance is important.
    Sheesh!
