Warrington Theft By Opportunity Lands Montco Male In Jail

Gary Simms, of Phoenixville was riding an E Bike on the 300 block of Grand Boulevard on May 12,2025, when at the same time, a male carrying a backpack with sports equipment put the bag down and walked away. The male was away from his back pack for a few minutes. When he returned, he was just in time to see Simms pick it up and ride away with it.
Police were called and could not locate anything. About two hours later, a caller reported a suspicious male on the 1400 block of Stuckert Road. . When officers responded, they found the male, identified as Simms, from Phoenixville charging his E Bike. He had possession of the backpack, which he admitted to taking earlier in the day.
Police searched him and located narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Simms was arrested and charged with theft and narcotics violations. He was released on a summons, police said.
