Two Separate Shootings In South Philadelphia

Philadelphia Police were called to two different, unrelated shootings in South Philadelphia yesterday.

At approximately 9:24 p.m. yesterday evening, 3rd District officers responded to a shooting on the 700 block of Tree Street. Upon arrival, officers located three male victims. Sterling Roberts a 38-year-old male from 700 McKean Street was found in front of the location with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at 9:43 PM, police said.

A second victim, a 36-year-old male, was found on the highway suffering from gunshot wounds to the buttocks and left leg. A third victim, a 55-year-old male, collapsed inside a store on the 22xx block of 7th Street after fleeing the original scene, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The surviving victims were transported to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and remain in critical condition, according to police.

Earlier that afternoon, at approximately 5:16 PM., officers responded to a report of a “Person with a Gun” on the 2100 block of Bailey Terrace. Upon arrival, officers discovered 22-year-old Ajani Stinton-Downing, a feale, unresponsive in a second-floor bedroom with a gunshot wound to her shoulder. She was transported to Penn-Presbyterian Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 5:55 PM The victim’s boyfriend was taken into custody for further investigation.

    Such a shame what’s happened to South Philly.
    I had friends that lived down there, and on Tree St.
    The Italian’s were so neighborly and hospitable.
    Those dinners that I was invited to were absolutely fantastic.
    And the homes were immaculate too.
    You rarely heard about bad things going on down there.
